For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you a future and hope. -Jeremiah 29:11
Chloe's Journey- The Dream
Welcome to Chloe's Journey. For those who many not know us, we are Greg and April Holleman. We have been married for almost seven years. We do not have any biological children. We were chosen by God to adopt internationally. People have asked us why we would adopt overseas with so many children here in the US that need a good home. Our only answer is that God has been very clear to us that she would be from Guatemala and it all ties in with the strategic plans He has for her life. Even though it would be easier and much cheaper to go through the foster care system here in the US, we have to do what God has called us to do. Even though this dream has been in our hearts for several years now, we decided to put legs on our faith this past April 2007 and got out of the boat so to speak. We started the very long process of paperwork, home study etc. Hannah Chloe was born on 7/17/07. We choose the country of Guatemala because of our hearts for the Latin American people. My dad went on a mission trip when I was 4 to Mexico to help build churches and met a little girl there in an orphanage named Rena Beth that he just fell in love with and wanted to adopt. (She and I were the same age at the time- 4 years old). But adoption was much more complicated back then and he never got to adopt her. He has talked about her my whole life and we always wonder what ever happened to her. I never even understood the connection until after we had decided to adopt. We now realize that God is completing something in us that he started in my dad. I cannot explain the love I feel for the Latin American people. I can see them in the mall or at a restaurant and sometimes I just start crying. I want all of them to know Jesus like I do. There have been many divine appointments where I have had a chance to plant seeds. I said all of that to say, we do believe our daughter already has a call on her life for missions. We believe that is why it has been such a struggle for us to get her. The adoption expenses are around $36,000 which includes all legal paperwork, travel expenses, agency fees, home study, DNA testing on our baby, Passports for both of us and much more. We have handed out baby bottles for friends/familiy to save their change in, wrote letters to family and friends, had garage sales, bake sales and I have sold on EBay, Amazon, Craig's List and had a conconsignment sale. We even wrote Oprah and several other talk show hosts. We are open to whatever way the Lord provides the finances and He will get all of the glory and honor no matter which way He chooses to complete this God given dream. We have been standing on the Word everyday believing that if God said it then He will provide. Someone once told us if it is God's Will then it is God's Bill. We not afraid to share our story with everyone we meet because you never know how God will choose to bring it to pass. Since finances have been the biggest obstacle in our adoption, we want to do something to help others like us. After we get our daughter, our desire is to set up a non-profit organization to help educate and provide grants for other families that are looking to adopt but may be putting it off due to finances. I just wanted to say thank you for providing us the opportunity and another avenue to share our story with the world. Thank you for being a part of Chloe's Journey.
We love you all!
Greg, April and Chloe too!
